Juvederm

Overview
Juvederm is an injectable gel used to smooth out facial wrinkles or to add volume to the lips. It is made from hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occuring complex sugar found in all living things. Most commonly Juvederm is used to fill deep lines in the nasolabial region or to enhance the appearance of the lips. These injections are performed in the office by Dr. Gallego. Unlike collagen injections, there is no need for skin testing.
Anesthesia type: Local
Length of procedure: 30-45 minutes depending on the number of areas treated
Risks: Bruising, prolonged swelling, asymmetry, persistent lines, early recurrence
Average recovery time:
It is not uncommon for there to be some swelling which resolves in 1-2 days. Patients are encouraged to use ice for the first 24 hours after their treatment. Patients are able to return to work the following day after the Juvederm injections.
Duration of effect: 6-9 months
